Why Church Membership?
To state it simply, you need the church and the church needs you!
The Bible encourages us to submit to one another, encourage and love one another, and learn from one another. These things are accomplished most effectively when Christians get plugged into a local church. Becoming a member means you are serious about being involved in this church and that you are placing your "stamp of approval" on her distinctive direction and vision. Joining the church gives you the opportunity to go from being a "weekend spectator" to a full-fledged participant in a gathering that grows and thrives together.
How do I become a member?
First each member needs to have made a "profession of faith" in Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord. We believe that a profession of faith represents your prayer or faith through which you admit that you are a sinner and that Christ died for you to remove the burden of your sins. Second, each member needs to have expressed their faith in Christ by being baptized by immersion.
What is immersion baptism and why do you do it?
The root meaning of our word "baptism" was originally not religious - it simply meant to plunge or dunk. When you closely study the Bible, immersing people under water is clearly implied. Immersion baptism is a powerful symbol of Jesus Christ being crucified and buried on our behalf and rising again on Easter Sunday. Baptism symbolizes our freedom from the tyranny of sin in our lives, and our "new life" in Jesus Christ (Romans 6:3-4).
How do I start the membership process?
Our goal is to have a personal conversation with you. You can initiate that conversation with us in a number of ways:
1. Walk down to the front during the invitation and be introduced to an invitational helper.
2. Speak with an invitational helper immediately after the worship service.
3. Set up an appointment to speak with a member of the Pastoral Staff during the week.
If you would like more information, please make plans to attend our next Discover VRBC Seminar. This is a great opportunity to hear about the vision of Valley Ranch Baptist Church as well as how you can plug in and get involved. Please stop by the Welcome Center for more details and the schedule for the next seminar.
