Cornerstone Baptist Church is a sister church of Valley Ranch Baptist Church. There are numerous opportunities to serve the Cornerstone Community throughout the year so please review the list below and see how you can help.
VOLUNTEER IN THE CLOTHES CLOSET - 4th SATURDAY OF ANY MONTH
This is a great opportunity for us to work with the individuals and develop deeper relationships with the people of the South Dallas community, as well as for your students to gain required volunteer hours. Just like our GPS volunteers at the Christmas Store, you will accompany people through the Cornerstone Clothes Closet at the intersection of Grand and Ervay and help them select clothing while you develop a friendship with them. This is a terrific chance to touch lives and also learn from those we serve. Sign up here for a date to serve. For more information, please contact Landa Parker at LandaParker@aol.com.
POVERTY SIMULATION - Next Date TBD
The Scriptures are clear: God cares for the poor and marginalized and has called us to be involved with them - to bring them the good news of Jesus Christ. This unique simulation, Plunge2Poverty, is designed to help train participants about the realities of our world of need, God’s heart for the poor, and how we can better live out God’s call for us to connect with the poor. The simulation costs $35 and will go from 8pm Friday until 3pm Sunday. If you are in high school or older, this experience is for you! Click here for more information and FAQs.
VRBC Member and Channel 4 award-winning videographer filmed a news story about our most recent poverty simulation. Channel 4’s Peter Daut explained, "Spending two days on the streets with the homeless doesn’t sound like an ideal weekend, but that’s exactly what a group of north Texans are doing and they’re actually paying for the experience." You may view the news clip that was done live from Cornerstone at http://www.myfoxdfw.com/dpp/news/church-group-spends-weekend-homelessspends-weekend-homeless.
