At Valley Ranch Baptist Church we believe that small groups are an integral part of our church’s mission and vision. They provide nurturing environments where people can experience Biblical community as modeled in the early church (Acts 2). In our church’s mission, vision, and strategy, we would describe small groups as a place where people can develop and experience “Loving Community” and “Intimacy with Others”.

As such, we want every person at VRBC to understand the importance of living life in “loving community” via a small group experience. As well, we want to make it easy for someone to get involved in a small group.

Small Group Ministry is something of an “inter-ministry” ministry, spanning multiple ministry areas of our church from Adult Bible Fellowships, Men’s Ministry, Women’s Ministry, Serving Teams, and Student Ministry, to name a few.

We view our small groups from a living and changing “organisms” viewpoint versus an “organizational” model. Groups are largely autonomous, selecting their own study materials, from recommended resources, meeting times, group growth strategies, and group emphases.

Our small groups typically include the foundational elements of Bible study, community, care, prayer, accountability, service, and spiritual growth in some combination based upon the type of group they are.

Small groups are encouraged to develop their own unique group personality in order to meet the needs of their group members.  Under the umbrella of our Small Group Ministry, it is our desire to provide training opportunities for leaders, resources for groups, spiritual guidance, and practical tools to support and enhance group life.
