VRBC supports the work of International Justice Mission (IJM), a global organization dedicated to protecting people in poverty from violence, exploitation, and slavery. In South India, where VRBC is involved, and where many in our community are from, the focus of IJM’s work is rescuing and restoring people from bonded labor. Bonded labor is when a person is forced to work to pay off a debt, tricked or trapped into working long hours for little or no pay until the debt is "paid," even though the amount keeps growing. This kind of labor is a form of modern-day slavery.
Lakeview Life Centre is a Bible college and seminary that is training leaders and transforming communities in Chennai and throughout India. They train students for ministry in the areas of Christian counseling, Christian studies, business entrepreneurship, and media communications, while also nurturing their spiritual growth and equipping with hands-on serving opportunities in the church and community. Another partner in India is a church in Chennai called Christian Fellowship Church. CFC is using innovative ways to reach out to their community and seeking to build relationships with those who don’t know Jesus. The church has no paid staff, and all of the members are actively engaged in leadership, ministry, and outreach.
